WOMEN OF THE ELCA

Women of the ELCA News

All Women of Grace Lutheran, all ages are invited and welcome to the next General meeting for the Women of the ELCA on Saturday, April 12th at 9:30 a.m.  Joy Circle will lead devotions, Friendship  Circle will be hostess and provide coffee/juice and goodies.  Women do not need to be a member of a Bible study Circle to come to the General Meeting.  All women of Grace are considered members of the Women of the ELCA.  Be a Bold Women in Motion in the ELCA.  Come and check out the activities and ministries of the women’s organization.

The Women of Grace have set aside funds for scholarships for women from Grace to attend  the next Triennial Gathering of the Women of the ELCA, which will be July 10-13, 2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Meet your sisters, moms, cousins and friends in Salt Lake City this summer and consider a trip to come together with some 2000 other Christian women to worship, praise God, hear dynamic speakers and socialize.  It is such a wonderful experience!   There is also time to sightsee in and around the beautiful Salt Lake City, see and hear the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, work on your genealogy at the Mormon’s free world headquarters and attend interesting workshops of your choice.  Sandy Boots is the Nebraska Triennial Coordinator and has more information for you.  Apply for scholarships from the church office.

Women of the ELCA – Saved to Serve

The first Saved to Serve Opportunity for 2008 is fast approaching and it is
time to turn our thoughts towards Tomah Shinga which means "Shining
Water." A wonderful serving retreat opportunity is being planned and
YOUR help is needed so information can get out to all ELCA women across
the state.

REFRESH AND REFURBISH CAMP TOMAH SHINGA

The Basics.....Nebraska Lutheran Outdoor Ministries (NLOM) and the Lutheran Outdoor
Ministries Association of Kansas (LOMAK) recently formed a ministry
partnership to develop camp and retreat ministry at and out of Camp
Tomah Shinga, a special place set apart for growing in faith situated on
840 wooded acres in a hilly area near Junction City, Kansas. We have
been invited to help make this facility SHINE by creating a fresh, clean
appearance to several camp areas.

Event dates: April 18-20, 2008
Cost: $39
which includes a Saved to Serve Opportunity T-Shirt. To
register, make a check payable to NSWO and mail it to Nancy Johnson,
12777 A Street, Omaha, NE 68141-4060.
Registration Deadline: March 31, 2008
Register yourself and be creative in generating enthusiasm for others to
come and be a part of this serving retreat weekend. It will be a unique
experience filled with beauty, fun, hard work, worship, friendship,
surprises and much, much more!
Participants will meet at Sheridan Lutheran in Lincoln at 12:30 on
Friday, April 18, in order to leave promptly at 1 p.m. to travel in vans
to the camp. You only have to drive to Lincoln! We will stay in the
camp's cabins and meals will be provided. Worship on Sunday will be at
the Camp.
Our primary tasks will be cleaning and painting... and there is much to do!
But, as with all Saved to Serve Opportunities, it's not all work.
Other things to look forward to:
...Exploring the theme Women of the Bible with Shirley Daire, PMA and
event coordinator.
...Devotions led by Brenda Krueger from Fremont and Fran Hughes from Mead.
..."Fun With Music" on Saturday evening when Tom Nelson, Burdick, KS,
will entertain and tell stories. Some of you may remember Tom as "The
Mailbox Missionary." He has served as a missionary in Japan, Slovakia
and Malaysia.
...Rousing camp songs lead by Amy Akerson and Jenny Kriens, on staff
with NOLM
...Time to get better acquainted with Sister Shana Williams, Tomah
Shinga Retreat Coordinator
Units and those unable to attend are asked to donated paper products or
contribute money towards the purchase of paper products.
(Checks to NSWO
for paper goods are preferred because of transportation space limitations).
Thanks be to God for all you do!
SPREAD THE WORD.... PRAY....SPREAD THE WORD....PRAY
